Attitude Barometric Survey (ABS)

Productivity, by an individual or a team, should always be measured by work completed according to specifications rather than time spent on the job. A favourable working environment and flexible work hours undoubtedly enhance productivity. But worldwide studies have gone further to indicate conclusively that happy, motivated workforces that enjoy a sense of pride and process ownership are most productive.

How is this "employee satisfaction" measured? The most accurate method is the simplest - by asking them. By asking employees at every level in the organisation how they feel about key issues and areas related to their working conditions, a vividly accurate picture of the human health of an organisation can be attained.

The ABS, designed by Craig Stephens and Paul du Toit, is a survey of attitudes and perceptions. It ascertains how various levels of staff perceive specific aspects of the company. The outcomes indicate levels of contentment in the organisation according to staff categories, which are graphically represented. Graphs can also be created indicating satisfaction levels by location.
